Cookie got her vaccines today. She was such a good patient. He even listened to her heart and lungs, checked her teeth and made the prediction that I'm going to be a Grandma! I couldn't afford the palpation, but he said in his opinion when he drove up she looked pregnant. He figures her to be around 9-10 months. Funny guy, he said I'm 50% right and 50% wrong. lol Other than that, he said she's as healthy as a horse.
She also obliged a urine and manure sample when I put her in the back. He said that all looks normal. He said if it ever gets mucosy, thick or is blood tinted it could mean she has a bladder infection and to give cranberry juice for it. He said he has seen a bunch of EEE cases in our area and he predicted this year he would see WNV because of all of the rain we've had. I'm so glad I got her vaccines!
He said that there wasn't really anything for me to do for the foal until it's about 4 months old other than any emergency. Then the baby will get its shots.
I found another itchy feel good spot too, right behind her elbow. lol
She'll have her feet trimmed again in about a week so she'll be all up to date on everything.
I know this is a short update but I couldn't wait to share the news. Woo Hooo we're having a baby! :D
