Time Off

The Pony Bloggers are here to announce “Of Horse” audience that winter is coming! We have some tips on ways to relax with your horses. The Pony Bloggers enjoy the winter break. Remember we do participate in many events throughout the spring, summer and fall. This much activity deserves a break. We are made up of sixty percent muscle and some time off helps heal sore areas. Our Pony Break starts on Christmas Day and continues until March 1.

Time off during the winter is also very productive. It’s not just about tossing horses into the pasture and forgetting about them or leaving them alone during this time off. On the contrary use the time to spend with us in different ways. We enjoy massages, bareback rides, light hacks and winter trails. Our riders use this time off to let our bodies and minds relax.

Another interesting fact is that horses do not forget previous training whether we had weeks or months off. The Pony Bloggers and their equine friends have excellent memories. This is another reason we need the down time. Burn out is very common in horses and it can be prevented one hundred percent. Riders love to show and compete with us and we love it too.

Please try to remember it is not only about the prizes, points and cash. Horses are giving their all every time it is asked of us. Please consider this ahead of time when planning the show season. Horses that are given time off during the year are performing better and last longer than horses that are pushed all year every year.

A winning team is a partnership. Consider us please riders and we will perform with you. We don’t fully understand the color of ribbons, the opinion of judges, 1D, 4D, amateur and professional. We do understand our connection to you, love to please you and want to win! Give us all the advantages and our partnership can last for many years.
