One sunny afternoon about a week ago, my daughter tacked up our adopted 15 year old rescue horse, an arab/cross gelding, Romeo. They were ready to go for a trail ride with another girl and her horse Sergio. Now, keep in mind, Sergio is an off the track thoroughbred, big and powerful and beautiful!
We have owned and loved our little Romeo for nearly six years. He has not done many trails up until this year because the other boarding facility didn't have them available to us. But when he does go out on the trail, he likes to be the fearless leader. So off they went, Romeo in the lead. At the bottom of the hilly area, the girls decided to let the horses canter up the hill and it was so funny watching our little Romey try to keep up with Sergio! He had his little engine roaring, and his heart was in it, but didn't have a chance at catching up with the mighty Sergio!
The girls laughed and did it again and again- Our "little engine that could", really tried his best and it was sure fun watching them! He has more heart than some humans I know!
