Road to the 2016 Kentucky Derby

I am sure that with the weather warming up, everyone is excited to be back in the saddle. The warm weather does not just bring back horse shows and riding, however. It brings back horse racing. And now, we are in full swing to the 2016 Kentucky Derby.

Coming off of last year's impressive performance by the legendary American Pharaoh, a derby like that is going to be hard to beat. This year though, there are some very talented youngsters on the field. Currently, the number one contender is champion, Mohaymen. He is looking better than ever, and he may even have the ability to claim the Triple Crown. He will be tried against some very very fast horses.

The horseracing nation has the Kentucky Derby list on its mind right now, and along with Mohaymen in the #1 spot, Nyquist falls in a close second, and More Spirit in the fifth spot.

Many are extremely excited to see this year's 3-year olds try for their spot in the list of 12 triple crown horses. In this list of talented babies, Zenyatta's youngest son, Ziconic is hoping to gain enough points to earn his spot. He is currently in the #50 position. Do you think he has a shot at running in the Kentucky Derby? This year will be tough, and the horses are really going to have to run their hearts out.

I want to hear your guys opinions. What do you guys think about this years list? Do you think we have a shot at another Triple Crown for the second year in a row? Who is your Derby pick? Does any particular horse stand out this year? Mine is Moyhaymen. Best of luck to all the horses between now and the running of the roses!
