I need to start doing as much no-stirrups work as possible to build up leg muscle to improve my riding. I want to get a coouple of friends to do it with me and it will be alot fun! It is painful at times, but hey, no pain no gain! I want to get to the point where my leg will not slip at all. fingers crossed. if you do no stirrups for little bit at a time it's not as bad! everyone dreads no stirrups but it's not as bad as it seems. if you start with no stirrup warm ups, then each time you ride, add a different element no stirrips it will become easier as you go. by the time you finish your goal of no stirrups (mine is a month) you will feel accomplished, your position will have improved, and you will have such an amazing feeling afterward. :) try no stirrups its not as bad as it seems :)
