G'day, or greetings from Down Under to my fellow horse and pony lovers. This is my first post to ofHorse, and I am looking forward to trolling the website and reading everyone's posts and updates. I will be visiting the States next year in my eternal quest for equine veterinary excellence and the time has come to start familiarising myself with the American horse industry.
As a veterinarian, I focus nearly all of my time and efforts on our beloved 4 legged equine friends. Being a veterinarian is a great position; I am lucky to have made that transition from starry eyed little girl to doing what I do now. We are so privileged to be trusted with the health and well being of our patients - we see so much, from the successes of elite performance horses, to saving that little girl's old pony and best friend. I laugh sometimes too as so much of what we see makes me think about those James Herriot books - a bit of Dr Harry for the modern century.
So the idea of my posts are to share my experiences, stories and knowledge with anyone interested, and hopefully along the way learn about what is most important to all of you, the guardians of our magnificent patients. Having just finished what was a simultaneously exciting and exhausting Spring Carnival here in Melbourne, Australia, I am excited to start sharing some of the stories, funny, sad and everything in between. Until then, stay safe and happy riding :)
