While searching the internet for my next article, I came across an interesting news post that touched me: the death of a horse that will be mourned as though he was human.
The Toronto Police Mounted Unit's recently passed away colleague, Royal Sun, was 16 years old and had been working for them since 2000. "As big and intimidating as he could be, he was also the most gentle creature," said Const. Patrick Penney, one of the police forces personnel that worked with him.
This police unit cares for their working animals as though they are true colleagues, at the same level as humans. This form of acceptance of animals who are required to assist police in their duties demonstrates that these employees also sincerely care about their work fighting crime. As Gandhi once said, "You can judge a population by the way they treat animals", therefore we can say that Toronto is in good hands when it comes to crime.
There will be a private memorial service for Royal Sun, who received his name from the two corporations who donated him, The Sun Newspaper and the Royal Winter Fair.
