My husband Ronnie and I went to the horse auction last month and while we were there, I asked Ronnie if we could get a young horse to raise and train. He looked at me as though I were crazy. We are not exactly young people, although we aren't that old either. Therefore, the idea of breaking and training a young horse was a little outrageous.
But Ronnie told our friend who was also at the sale what a crazy idea I had, and to my amazement he told us to come get a baby, he was giving it to me. We would have to take the mother too as the baby would need her until he was weaned. He wanted the mother back when the baby was weaned. So long story short - we went and picked him and his mother up and took them home.
We named the colt Chance. He was born in the middle of April, so he is now about 6 weeks old. We have gentled him somewhat and got a halter put on him. Every day we go out and pet him, brush him and are starting to work with him on leading. It's going good so far.
So this blog will be about his education. It may be our education too. I'm sure we will have many adventures to tell about.
