So the first week we had Chance, we decided he needed a halter put on him. The sooner he got used to it, the better. This baby was wild as a buck. So we tried coaxing him to us. He was afraid and ran behind his mother. We tried to corner him, that didn't work either. Finally, we resorted to throwing a rope around his neck. That worked, but he was anything but still.
We worked the halter on in a few seconds, although he almost got out of it a couple of times. But we did have hold of him and he soon began to calm down. We left a short lead-line from the halter, to make it easier to catch him and for him to get used to a line running from his head.
Two weeks later and now we can walk up to him, or sometimes he will even walk up to us when we go in the pen. He enjoys the petting and grooming. Moreover, he has begun to follow us as we take a step or two with the lead-rope in our hands. Ronnie grabs his legs and holds his tiny feet for a few seconds to get him used to having his feet lifted and messed with. Chance is making progress.
