In light of the recent tornadoes tragically claiming the lives of humans and many equines in Oklahoma, I have been pondering our level of preparedness at the horse barn and at home. I implore each of you horse enthusiasts to do the same. Do you have identifying photos, etc. in a safe box where you can be sure they are accessible in the event of a tragedy? If your horse is missing in the aftermath of a storm, what means do you have him assisting authorities in his or her recovery?
We may all want to consider a special kit to help others to identify and, hopefully, recover our beloved animals if such a tragedy occurs in our area.
