Remember Oscar Performance? The American Thoroughbred that won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf at age 2. This month, Oscar Performance made another huge performance at Belmont Park.
The 4-year-old ridgling by American champion Kitten’s Joy has won the $300,000 Poker Stakes (G3T) at Belmont Park. Additionally, he also broke the 20-year-old record and set a new track record in the Poker Stakes.
Ridden by American jockey Jose Ortiz, Oscar Performance won the race in a record-setting time of 1:31.23. That’s .40 seconds better than Elusive Quality’s 20-year-old record mark of 1:31.63, which set in the Poker Stakes on July 1998.

Foaled on April 6, 2014, Oscar Performance is an American Thoroughbred racehorse who won the prestigious Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf, a huge horse racing event that takes place at different racetracks in the United States and Canada. Oscar Performance was foaled in Mill Ridge Farm, Kentucky, and races for Amerman Racing. The American Thoroughbred has raced and won in some of the biggest horse racing events. These include the 2016 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf, 2016 Pilgrim Stakes, 2017 Pennine Ridge Stakes, 2017 Belmont Derby, and the 2017 Secretariat Stakes.
The American Thoroughbred made its first race on the turf course at Saratoga, finishing fifth in that race.
