A Fashionable, Sophisticated Day at the Races

Fashion during horse races have become some of the most elite and sophisticated the world over. Some traditions date back hundreds of years; whereas, others are only just beginning to grow in popularity. The regal horses and fresh air are the perfect background to showcase the latest in fashion, as well as to showcase your personal style.

Caulfield Cup Ladies Luncheon

The Caulfield Cup Ladies Luncheon is a long-standing Australian horse racing tradition. This fashionable event marks the beginning of the Caulfield Cup Carnival which features a number of activities from live entertainment to fashion parades. All women in attendance put their best fashion foot forward as it is the annual premiere unveiling of Carnival fashions. Most women also go above and beyond in finding the most spectacular hat to match their equally spectacular ensemble. If you are wondering when the Caulfield Cup is, it is typically at the beginning of October each year.

Style Stakes

The Style Stakes during the Dubai World Cup has become a platform for the global fashion elite. While this event is in a relative infancy state in comparison to most of the other events, it is not lacking in sophistication and prestige. Style Stakes is a fashion contest for men, women and couples with a number of additional categories in which to enter. Judges are well-respected fashion and media professionals. This year, the winner will receive a brand new Jaguar automobile.

Kentucky Oats

The Kentucky Oats, hosted at the world-renown Churchill Downs, is the largest and most popular day at the races for the ladies in the US. The tradition began in the 19th Century and has continued to grow each year. This event, as it is a ladies day at the races, is centered around the color pink. Women dress in stylish ensembles in nearly every shade of pink. You can expect to see pink clothes, pink hats, pink jewelry, pink drinks and pink decor.

Ladies Day

The Royal Ascot is the epitome of prestige and sophistication in British culture and society. This may be the most well-known fashionable horse racing day on the planet. The level of sophistication is so high that they even enforce dress codes for both men and women such as men being required to wear a tie in the grandstand and women cannot bare their shoulders or midriffs. Throughout Ladies Day, you will see highly sophisticated hats, dresses, shoes and accessories by all major designers from across the globe.

Myers Fashion on the Field

Myers Fashion on the Field is hosted at Flemington during the Melbourne Cup Carnival. This fashion event is a contest that is often judged by celebrity guest judges. The tradition began back in 1963 and continues to gain global recognition and esteem. The enclosures are based on various famous catwalks from around the world and nearly all major fashion names in Australia are present at the event.

National Hunt

The National Hunt fashion scene is highly unique compared to the majority of horse racing fashion events. This race is held in the height of British springtime, making selection of appropriate attire far more challenging than the others. Most fashionistas follow the theme of sophisticated country in greens, browns and tweeds rather than the latest in high fashion. And, in place of the statement-making hat, women choose matching headscarves.

If you are looking for the height of sophistication in the horse racing world, these events will provide just that. To find when the Caulfield Cup, the Dubai World Cup and all the others are, you should check their websites as dates may change from year to year.
