Hello, my name is Jayne and I am a Bookaholic. I try to control my addiction by forcing myself to stop choosing one-click-shopping on Amazon and instead of clicking on the option that's almost hidden at the bottom right-hand corner of my laptop screen that says "Wish List." Then when someone complains at Christmas time or any other gift-giving opportunity that they have no idea what to buy me, I happily click on the email icon at the top of my 'Wish List," share it with them and both giver and receiver are thrilled with the result.
Okay, I know Amazon doesn't by any means need any help from me to be a household name but nevertheless, I am grateful to them for both teaching me the thrill of delayed gratification and also ensuring that, instead of another fancy serving dish, I get something I really want under the tree.
One book that I couldn't wait for Christmas to read was Anna Blake's Barn Dance, which I bought hot off the Kindle presses. Totally overcoming an addiction takes time, after all! I devotedly follow Blake's adventures with her farm animals and her job as riding instructor at annablakeblog.com and had quickly devoured her first two books. Barn Dance is her finest work yet and I recommend it to any and all horse lovers.
I am always on the lookout for good horse stories by good horse people and if you are too, then I will share with you what is now sitting patiently on my wish list - Horse Trainer Mark Rashid's latest book, A Journey to Softness: In Search of Feel and Connection With the Horse. Rashid is another of my favorite horsemanship authors, along with Kim Meeder, Monty Roberts, and Joe Camp. That should help jump start your list.
The cold weather has arrived, so after we come in from the barn we should go ahead and curl up in front of the fire with a good book. Happy Reading to all!
