An App Against Accidents, for Humans and Horses

How many times have you turned a corner and slammed the brakes, barely missing the pedestrian or a motorcyclist coming from the other side? This scenario has happened to the best of us and can often turn fatal. This is why Henry Blackhouse has developed an app that works as a protection against such accidents. The road safety app is created with horses and their safety in mind but is also good for other users of the road too.

The 25 year old app developer from Clithroe claims that initially he was keen on creating an app for horses and the safety of its drivers but gradually he began to add more users. The app called “Ride and Seek” utilizes GPS technology to alert the drivers of any upcoming “at risk” road users such as pedestrians, motorcyclists, bicyclists, and horses.

How Does it Work?

The app is free to install on both Google Play and the Apple Store. After the vehicle driver installs the app on their smartphone, the screen automatically flashes the location of other users who are using the app as well.

The biggest advantage of “Ride and Seek” is that it not only displays the warning of a vulnerable road user but also issues a verbal warning so the driver does not have to pick up their phone to check.

Henry Blackhouse further added that the app provides better protection against potential accidents if both the driver and the rider have installed it on their app. He claims that the market is full of apps that provide protection but “Ride and Seek” is one of a kind. It is an app that is not only for pedestrians but good for horses and their riders too.

The Future of “Ride and Seek”

Henry Blackhouse is currently working for Jaguar/Land Rover in Liverpool. He also discussed the app with his employers who have found the project promising.

Henry, a former student of Dunsop Bridge and QEGS says that he hopes that one day the app is integrated in the modern cars as well as horses.  However, before the plan for that is initiated, his bosses require a certain number of app users.

If you are also interested in an app that gives you the maximum protection on the road, then download “Ride and seek” for free by clicking here.

Judging from the optimism of the maker and the unique features of “Ride and Seek”, we can be assured that the day is not far when we see the app on every mobile set to enhance the protection of all road users. Of course it is not every day that we see an app against accidents that is equally good for horses too.
